Elizabeth J. Herdendorf, 85, of Whitewater, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Fairhaven Retirement Community.

Elizabeth was born on October 15, 1926, daughter of Lloyd and Elfreda (Meyer) Gordon in Fond du Lac. She married Vernon Herdendorf on August 4, 1951 in Fort Atkinson at the First United Methodist Church.

Elizabeth had been an elementary music teacher and librarian for the Fort Atkinson School District for 40 years. She was a devout Christian who was very active at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Whitewater.

Elizabeth had a great love for her family and cherished the time spent together at their vacation home “The Birches” in Egg Harbor. After retirement, she enjoyed painting scenes of photographs she had taken.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Jeff (Betty) Herdendorf of Milton and Wendy (Charles) Will of Waukesha and grandchildren, Casey and Tyler Herdendorf and Peter and Sam Will. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A Memorial Services will take place at 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Whitewater. A Celebration of life will follow from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church. Private burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Atkinson.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

The Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
