Stacie Trail Obituary

Stacie Lynn Trail, 61, of Watertown, WI passed away after a very brief battle with illness on March 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Stacie was born on August 10,1962 to Richard and Barbara Cramlet in Glencoe, MN, the first daughter and the second of four. The family moved to Delafield WI in December of 1977 where Stacie completed high school and went on to pursue a career in the trucking industry.

Stacie married the love of her life, Jimmie Trail, Jr., in 1992 in Okauchee, WI. They spent their 32 years together camping, fishing, and riding on their Harley Davidson trike. They most recently enjoyed a trip to Sturgis, SD in 2022, where they were able to see Deadwood, Mt. Rushmore, Badlands National Park, Needles Highway, Route 191, Custer State Park, Spearfish Canyon, and Devil’s Tower. They also enjoyed a lot of time on WI and MN lakes, fishing for all the “keepers” and enjoying beautiful sunsets together.

Stacie was the most proud of her role as “Grammy” to Mackenzie and Madalynn. From little on, she was constantly on the go to show choir shows, archery meets, dance recitals, band/orchestra concerts, academic events, plays/musicals, and “Grammy dates.” Stacie enthusiastically supported every fundraiser, and every activity of interest to her granddaughters. To the girls, she was always just a phone call away for whatever they needed and a sounding board for whatever was on their hearts.

As a mother, Stacie exemplified what a mother should be to their children. She was protective and generous, gave unconditional and selfless love while instilling a sense of character and a value system that Nikki relies on as she raises her and Nick’s daughters. Stacie took great pride in all of Nikki’s accomplishments and work ethic as Nikki pursued her teaching degree and masters while raising their young family. Stacie knew exactly when to transition from mom mode to best friend mode… a unique talent for any parent and gift to any child.

Stacie was the “glue” for her huge extended family…always making the time to see her family, whether close or far away. She coordinated family holidays and kept in close and regular contact with her dad, siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins, sending handwritten cards with heartfelt messages, calling when she had any extra time available “just to catch up” and regularly responding with love and encouragement to Facebook posts when people she loved shared life events or their important thoughts. Everyone always felt “heard” and “seen” by her because she gave the gift of time to everyone she loved.

Stacie spent her life devoting her time to not only those she loved, but also groups that were close to her heart: Imagine A Day Foundation, the Suicide Awareness Convoy, and 18 Wheels for Bubba. For many years, she shared her servant heart and devotion to others as she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at St. Coletta’s, Marquardt Manor, and Bethesda Lutheran Homes, taking care of those who couldn’t take care of themselves.

Driving was Stacie’s greatest passion after her family. She started driving semi-truck in her early 20’s, pausing her career to raise her daughter and help with her granddaughters when they were born. Once her granddaughters were in school, she went back to driving. Stacie won awards for driver excellence and safety and taught her granddaughter, nieces and nephews the importance of defensive driving. If snow was in the forecast, it was a guarantee that everyone she loved got a wonderful reminder call or text to remind us how to manage hazardous conditions. Over the years, Stacie made many friends and colleagues in the trucking industry and was grateful for the love and respect they all shared. Stacie started driving at Fairway Transit and then moved to Kutzler Express in 2022, where she drove regionally and was planning to retire from this year.

Stacie is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara; brother-in-law, Jeffrey Boerger; mother-in-law, Barbara Rawls; and sisters-in-law, Darla and Barbara Trail. She is survived by her husband, Jimmie; her daughter, Nikki (Nick) Dingman; granddaughters, Mackenzie and Madalynn Cramlet; her father, Richard Cramlet; siblings Brad (Colleen) Cramlet, Leslie (Brad) Boerger, and Tony (Jennifer) Cramlet; her sister-in-law, Vivian Trail; and nieces and nephews Kyle (Jordyn) Cramlet, Kaityln (Craig) Hilty, Alexandra Boerger, Zachary (Ashley) Bella, Miranda (Chase) Boerger, Quinn Boerger, Zachary Cramlet, Joshua Cramlet, Jacob Cramlet, Benjamin Cramlet, Samuel Cramlet, Shannon (Alex) Farmer, Mandy (Dusty) Scoggins, JJ Richardson, Dylan (Kerry) Lucko, William Corujo, and Tiffany Muniz; as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
