Benjamin Kranig, Sr Obituary

Benjamin F. Kranig Sr., 80, of Fort Atkinson, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at home surrounded by his family.

Ben was born on December 31, 1932 in Chicago, son of the late Benjamin and Marie (Halter) Kranig. He married Margaret Jasper in Chicago on May 31, 1958.

Ben joined the United States Army and served his country in the Korean War. He was a member of the Paul Frank Florine American Legion Post 166 and the Edwin Frohmader VFW Post 1879 in Fort Atkinson.

Ben is survived by his wife Margaret of Fort Atkinson; children, John (Donna) Kranig of Loves Park, IL, Benjamin Jr. (Margaret Turner) Kranig of West Chicago, IL and Raymond (Karen) Kranig of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Jeremiah (Valerie), Shawn (Jennifer), Josh, Shannon, Benjamin, Anthony and Brandi Kranig; great grandchildren, Dominic and Ayden Kranig; brothers, Jeffrey (Nancy) Kranig of Justice, IL and Leroy (Margaret) Kranig of San Antonio, TX; sisters, June McDowell of Chicago, IL and Norma McDowell of Wonder Lake, IL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ray and Jerry Kranig.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1660 Endl Blvd. in Fort Atkinson. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 3 at the Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson and from 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the church until time of service. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
