Berdine's love for sewing came to fruition May 2, 1977 when she opened Berdine's Stitchery in Fort Atkinson. After 40+ years in business and having celebrated her 100th birthday, she gave up her shop to spend time with Herbie. Theirs was a very special, loving and caring marriage-they were each other's priority. They would tell you they were "living their dream." Bee often said, "Herbie turned my rusty years to gold."
Berdine was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and attributed her longevity to her faith.
