Candace Butz-Pint Obituary

With love and heavy hearts, we say goodbye to Candace "Candy" Jeannette Butz-Pint, who left us on March 30, 2025, unexpectedly.  Candy was born in Elgin, IL to Aina (Alm) and Jack Collins on February 5, 1951.  She graduated from Elgin High in 1969 and married Robert C Butz in May of 1970.  He proceeded her in death in October 1990.  They moved to the Fort Atkinson area in the fall of 1972 with Bob's parents and dairy farmed until his passing.  She married Larry A Pint in April 1998 and they also farmed in Ixonia & Watertown area before moving back to Fort Atkinson.  Candy worked for the Jefferson County Humane Society in their early years putting on puppet shows and making floats for parades as well as working at the Best Western Inn for a short time in Fort Atkinson and then worked for Calvary Lutheran in Whitewater for their daycare as well as being the church secretary. She is best known for being one of the favorite lunch ladies in the Fort Atkinson School District at Barrie, Rockwell and the high school from 2002 to her retirement in June 2024.

Candy was a woman of unwavering strength, quick wit and endless love, but also a force to be reckoned with, when necessary, mixed with a heart that never stopped giving and caring.  She spoke her mind, laughed freely, loved to have fun and be silly, and cared deeply.  If you were lucky enough to know her, you know she was the kind of person who would help in a heartbeat.  She also had no problem telling you exactly how it was and don't think about getting on her bad side!

Candy found great peace and enjoyment up north at the trailer on the lake where she had no stress and felt closest to her mom.  She enjoyed floating on the lake, fishing, gardening, thrifting, sleeping in, and making friends with the racoons who visited her deck each year.  She was a devoted friend and animal lover to all creatures and loved her fur babies and she was a loving cat mom to many and to Sooty who was her current companion.

She had an unmatched enthusiasm for holidays, going all out with decorations at home and at work and never missing an opportunity to dress up.  Her creativity showed in everything she did from voicemails, to making spaces festive, to embarrassing her kids and grandkids in the best ways possible.  She was known for her "candy kicks" which included Good & Plenty's, Hershey Kisses, Nut Rolls, peanut butter cups, or whatever the latest obsession was.  She also had a well known appreciation for "good pens" never settling for a cheap one when there was a smooth high-quality pen to be found.  And if you knew Candy, you knew about "THE" feather pillow she couldn't sleep without and she'd make sure that you knew the best way to "fuzz" a blanket, including animals.  She adored her family beyond words and loved to brag about them or introduce them to co-workers and friends and was their biggest cheerleader.

Surviving her are her husband, Larry Pint, her 4 children, Christine (Rick) Rector, Ryann (Shawna) Butz, Daniel (Julie) Butz, Sandina (Christopher)Pint-Baron all of Fort Atkinson,  her 3 step children LaVern Pint of Madison and Lori Pint and the late Frank Pint of Iowa, as well as her 10 grandchildren, Brian (Hannah) Beaudo, Brandon Beaudo, Jenna Bautzmann, Jaden Bautzmann, Anna Butz, Callie Butz, Bobby Butz, Evelyn Butz, Cyleen Pint and Ayden Pint-Anderson, her 4 step grandchildren, Amanda Rector, Josh Kassel, Ryan Rector and Allison Rector and her great grandson Bennett Beaudo all knew the depth of her love and will forever carry her spirit with them. She is further survived by her sisters, Dianne (Gary) Butz of Marengo, IL and Sandy (Jeff) Chandler of Salt Lake City, UT, her cousin Gaye Wallace, of Hampshire, IL who is like a sister, as well as nephews, Michael and Jason of Utah and other relatives.  She is reunited with her parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles and her brother Tony.

As we celebrate her life, we remember her being the late one, her warmth, her silliness and the way she always teased with "lovey momma" or "lovey Gamma".  She wouldn't want us to be sad for too long - she'd want us to remember fun times, decorate something, share a laugh, and most of all be there for each other.

In her honor, hug your loved ones, eat some chocolate, don't forget to take the photos, and live today full of love, mischief and a little bit of sass.

Visitation will be held at Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson on Sunday, April 6th, 2025, from 1pm-4pm with a service to follow. A light meal and refreshments will be served following the service at the Koshkonong Town Hall, W5609 Star School Road, Fort Atkinson, WI 53538.

In lieu of flowers and remembering Candy's kind heart and love for all creatures, donations to the Jefferson County Humane Society or an animal rescue of your choice in her honor would be a fitting tribute.
