Cecile Shetler Stende, 79, Fort Atkinson, WI passed away on January 3, 2026. Cecile is predeceased by her parents Carlton J Gosselin and Madeleine F (Dupuis) Gosselin, as well as brother Joseph and sisters, Claire and Francis. Cecile has left behind her daughter, Deana (Todd) Wheeler, son, Daniel (Deanna) Shetler, sisters, Annette and Helen and brother, Thomas. Cecile is Grandmother of Osa, Britta, Kaylen, Sten, Karina, Linnea and Kamryn.
Born in Hanover, NH Ciel lived her childhood in the New England region. While in nursing school she married her first husband Dean and relocated to California where she completed her training and started her career as a Registered Nurse. Ciel held a wide range of positions during her long career and was well known professionally in the specialties of Surgery, Laser Surgery, and Hospice Care. Ciel had a spark for life and earned her motorcycle operator’s license in her 20’s and rode many miles over the years into her retirement. She offered her time and talents to many over the years with hand knit gifts she took pride in. In retirement she and her second husband, David traveled the United States living full-time in their RV. Ciel appreciated opportunities to see the diverse natural beauty as well as lesser-known roadside attractions. Throughout her life Ciel was grateful for opportunities for international travel visiting family in both France and Brazil and work-related travel to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
