Dean H. Wintermute, 77, of Fort Atkinson, passed away Friday, January 20, 2012 at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.
Dean was born on April 9, 1934 son of the late Halsey Jr. and Eva (Harris) Wintermute in Palmyra. He married Barbara Shaw on June 29, 1968. She died on January 29, 2004.
Dean joined the U.S. Army in the 1950s and was stationed in Korea following the war. He was a member of the Palmyra American Legion and VFW. He was also a longtime member of the Jefferson County Beekeepers Association. He had worked for more than 20 years at Carnation (now Nestle Purina) in Jefferson until his retirement.
Dean enjoyed playing euchre with his friends, looking for treasures with his metal detector and tinkering on many different projects in his shop. He was always giving a helping hand to his friends and neighbors. Dean also had a passion for traveling, he had traveled all over Europe and across the United States.
He is survived by his daughters, Victoria (Gary) Teubert and Deborah (Tim) Miller both of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, Ashley and Melissa Kosloski; brother, James (Linda) Wintermute of Fort Atkinson; sister, Betty Hodyniak of Rockford; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Stanley and John Wintermute and a half-brother Joseph Sonnenburg.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the Hebron United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen Klatt officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the church until time of service. Burial will take place at a later date in Hebron Cemetery.
