Delores L. (Duckworth) Schaper, 90, of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Reena Senior Living.

Delores was born on March 12, 1936, in Kendall, WI. Her parents were father, Irvin Duckworth and mother, Lillian (Schuwandt) Duckworth. She graduated from Kendall High School (Now Royall) in Kendall, WI in May of 1953.

On July 16, 1954, she was united in marriage to Carl Schaper.

During her work life, she was employed at Universal Paper Co. in Madison, WI from June 1953 to June 1954, at Wisconsin Dept. of Motor Vehicle in Madison from June 1955 to July 1967, at Kelly’s Restaurant in Madison from September 1971 to May 1977, at Burger King - East Towne in Madison from May 1977 to November 1993, at McDonald – East Towne in Madison from November 1993 to May 2001 and retired. All this time she and her husband resided in Madison and were members of Eastside Evangelical Lutheran Church.

In 2001 she and her husband moved to Fort Atkinson so they could be closer to their only daughter Gail and family and to be better able to enjoy their two grandchildren.

Since living in Fort Atkinson, she and her husband were members of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church.

With the need to be doing something, Delores went to work part-time at Hoard & Sons in Fort Atkinson and also volunteered at Twice is Nice in Jefferson.

Delores is survived by her daughter Gail (Jeffrey) Westphal; grandson Aaron (Kelley) Westphal; granddaughter Carly Westphal; great-grandchildren Penelope Westphal and Hudson Westphal, brother Leonard (Deanna) Duckworth, brother-in-law Bernhardt Schaper and sister-in-law Carolin “Sue” McGeough. Dolores is further survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother Irvin and Lillian Duckworth, her father-in-law Herman Schaper, mother-in-law Clara Jacobs, brothers Alton (Lois) Duckworth and Lewis (Uldine) Duckworth, sister Elaine (David) Campfield, brother-in-law James McGeough and sister-in-law Sharon Schaper.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson with Pastor Ethan Steinbrenner presiding. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lakeside Lutheran High School, or Crown of Life Christian Academy.
