Dolores J. Parsons, 93, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, at Reena Senior Living, Fort Atkinson.
She was born on June 8, 1932, on the family farm in Brooklyn, to Emil and Evelyn (Briggs) Luchsinger. She was named after the 1930's film star Dolores del Rio.
Dolores graduated from Brooklyn High School, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree.
On March 22, 1952, she married Irvin (Doc) L. Parsons, who she met at a small country church (Hope Church) that both families attended.
In 1953, Dolores began her teaching career in a rural one-room schoolhouse. She remembered wearing 5" stilettos and pencil skirts.
She eventually moved to Fort Atkinson when Irv opened his chiropractic office. She taught elementary students for 37 years in the Jefferson School District, and retired after a total of 41 years of teaching.
Teaching children meant the world to Dolores, and she cherished her time helping students excel in all areas of their lives. She also enjoyed the teachers, staff, and families.
Dolores was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fort Woman's Club, Order of Eastern Star, Fort Atkinson Historical Society, Wisconsin Retired Educator's Association (WREA) and Club 46 Dance Club.
She enjoyed listening to music, singing, dancing, playing the piano, flower gardening and cooking, but her greatest passions were her family and traveling the world with her husband, Irv, of 61 years.
Dolores is survived by her daughters, Denise (Tom) Engel of Bovey, MN, and Coral (Douglas) Clevenger of Plano, IL; grandchildren Nate Engel, Nick Engel, and Corey (Michelle) Clevenger, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Evelyn (Briggs) Luchsinger, her brother, Rodney Luchsinger, devoted husband, Irvin (Doc) L. Parsons, and beloved friend and companion, Gary Fritz.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 10 AM to 11 AM, with memorial service at 11 AM, at the First United Methodist Church, 320 S. Main St, Fort Atkinson, officiated by Pastor Thomas Thao. A luncheon will follow the memorial service, and then burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Brooklyn for all who wish to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church with Dolores J. Parsons Memorial Fund noted in the memo.
Dolores and her family would like to extend their deepest appreciation and thanks to the staff of Reena Senior Living, Rainbow Hospice, doctors, loved ones, and friends, for their care, support and love.
The Dunlap Memorial Home of Fort Atkinson assisted the family.
