Dorothy E. Tippins, 101, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Fairhaven in Whitewater.
She was born on January 3, 1910 in Sullivan, the daughter of the late Edwin J. and Eleanora A. (Drescher) Graper.
Dorothy married Rev. Alban G. Tippins on November 17, 1965. He died on April 19, 1976.
She was a graduate of the Fort Atkinson High School, class of 1928, and later graduated from the Milwaukee County Hospital Nursing program in 1931 as a registered nurse.
Dorothy was employed by the Wisconsin General Hospital in Madison. She then entered military service in the Army Nurse Corp during WWII, serving in France for three years. Following her discharge, she became employed by the Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital until her retirement.
She was a member of the Albion Prairie Methodist Church and the Oakland Ladies Aid.
Dorothy was a volunteer at Fairhaven for a number of years and received the Volunteer of the Year award. She also started the End of Life program at Fairhaven.
She enjoyed baking and crocheting.
Survivors include one step-son, Alban Tippins Jr. of Monroe, N.C.; step-granddaughters, Terri (Steve) Pelikan, Traci (Eric) Swenson; step-great grandchildren, Audrey Pelikan, Calvin, Emily, and Nick Swenson; one sister, Alice Armstrong of Whitewater; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Also preceding in death was a sister, Lois Graper; two brothers, Robert (Ann) Graper, Homer (Gertrude) Graper; brother-in-law, Daryl Armstrong; step-son, Tom Tippins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011, at 11 a.m., at the Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson with the Rev. Dr. Carroll Olm officiating.
Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. on Friday at the memorial home, until the time of service.
