Edith M. Stannard, age 95, passed away peacefully Tuesday August 5,2025 at her apartment at Noel Manor in Verona WI. She was born on February 2,1930 in Edgerton, WI to Harlow and Lena (Naatz) Wing.
She was a resident of Edgerton until she was 17 when she moved to Fort Atkinson and graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1948. She married Warren Stannard on October 9,1948 in Farmington WI. They lived in Fort until the end of March 2024 when they moved to Noel Manor in Verona WI. Edith and Warren celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary last October at their new residence.
Edith worked at JCPenny in Fort for many years and often spoke of her fond memories of working there. She was very artistically talented, crafting many decorative pieces for the home and outdoors as well as sewing beautiful clothing. She loved plants and animals of all types. She talked with the doves on her apartment porch until her final days. Cooking was another of her many talents. She left behind many great recipes, especially her famous Mai Tais.
Edith and Warren were known for hosting many birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and especially their luau parties. Ede, also known as “Babe”, was the “hostess with the mostest”, always welcoming, kind and giving. She had an incredibly warm heart and had a wonderful sense of humor up until the very last days.
Edith was predeceased by Warren who died on April 3rd of this year. Edith is survived by her children, Brian (Terry) Stannard, Diane (Mark) Streich, Judy (Rick) Halverson; grandchildren, Nicole Stannard, Allison (Wells) Littlefield, Sarah (Jordan) Johnson, Ryan (Macy) Halverson and great-grandchildren Oliver Johnson and Graham Johnson.
Family and friends are invited to the Dunlap Memorial Home, 604 S. Main Street in Fort Atkinson for visitation at 1 p.m. and memorial service at 2 p.m. on Tuesday August 19th. Burial will follow the memorial service at Lakeview cemetery. The ceremony will be followed by a luncheon at Salamone’s Italian Pizzeria at 1245 Madison Ave. in Fort Atkinson.
