Ervin Arthur Burrow, 97, of Fort Atkinson, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.
Ervin was born in Albany, MN on November 20, 1916, son of the late Arthur and Lydia (Klatt) Burrow. He married Wilma A. Kriedeman on May 5, 1942.
After Ervin graduated from Fort Atkinson High School, he joined the United States Army. He was wounded in action during WWII on Utah Beach during the Normandy Invasion. Ervin was awarded the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, European - African - Middle Eastern Campaign and Silver Star and Arrowhead Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Service Button WWII and the Europe African Middle Eastern Campaign.
He was a member of the Paul Frank Florine Post #166 American Legion in Fort Atkinson and a founding member of the first FFA club in Fort Atkinson.
Ervin worked many years for Jamesway Manufacturing as a machine operator, foreman and traveling around the world as an installation supervisor installing chicken incubators. He was a handyman around the house and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed playing dartball and Wii bowling at the Senior Center.
Ervin is survived by his sons, Russell Burrow and James (Patty) Burrow both of Fort Atkinson and Keith Burrow of Kenosha; daughter, Nancy Boos of Fort Atkinson; son-in-law, Richard Meyer of Aurora, CO; daughter-in-law, Sue Burrow of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, Christopher (Sunnifa Dehr) Burrow, Mark (Corinna Pierce) Burrow, Mikel Burrow, Brian Burrow, Alexis Burrow and Melissa (Rodney Krahn) Burrow; great grandchildren, Cayla Hernandez, Cynthia Burrow, Jacob Burrow, Everleigh Krahn and DesiRae Burrow; three great great grandchildren; very special friend Paul Pruefer; his little buddies, Tiger and Bear and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; son, Ervin R.; daughter, Karen Meyer; sister, Mabel Denzin; grandson, Joshua Banks and son-in-law, Tom Boos.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson with Pastor Bryan Engfer officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18 at the Dunlap Memorial Home and from 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the church until time of service. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to Rainbow Hospice.
