Eugene Schrank Obituary

Eugene Allen Schrank, 97, of Fort Atkinson, WI, went home to be with the Lord on January 26, 2025.

Gene was born at home on June 10, 1927, on Bark River Road, Fort Atkinson, to Albert and Shirley (Paine) Schrank. He was an older brother to two sisters, Joan and Arlyn.

Gene attended school in Fort Atkinson, leaving in his senior year to join the Navy toward the end of World War II. He served on a ship in the Far East, stationed in China. Upon his discharge after the war, he returned to Fort Atkinson and received his diploma.

Gene married Emma Denolf on September 18, 1956, adopting her daughter Diane. Gene and Emma had two children, Jay and Judie.

In 1962 the family moved to Thousand Oaks, California to escape Midwest winters. Gene worked a number of jobs there including barbering, selling life insurance, and selling real estate.

Gene became a believer in Jesus Christ during this time as a result of a colleague’s testimony. Gene accepted God’s forgiveness and committed his life to sharing the good news of salvation with others. His greatest desire was for others to experience God’s love and receive new life in Jesus.

After his conversion Gene drove tour bus for Sandi Patti and The Continental Singers and Orchestra.

Some years later Gene became involved in Jail Ministry, deciding to return to Fort Atkinson to continue that work. Additionally, he did Camp Ground Ministry for many years, at times in as many as six campgrounds a week, providing Sunday Morning Services. His desire to see people come to salvation was the driving motivation of his life.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters. He is survived by his son, Jay Schrank, Hohenwald, TN; daughter, Judie Fischer, Ahwahnee, CA; and daughter, Diane Kinner, Oak Hearst, CA, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
