Harlow Hebbe Obituary

Harlow V. Hebbe, 66, Iron River MI and Jefferson, WI, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, at his home in Iron River. He was born on January 7, 1945 in Fort Atkinson to Harlow and Arlene (Plymesser) Hebbe.

Harlow was a graduate of Fort Atkinson High School, class of 1963. While in high school, he participated in basketball, football, track, intramurals, F Club, and student council. A bad car accident with serious head injuries prevented him from participating in sports for a little while, but not long. He joined the Wisconsin National Guard while still in high school and left for basic training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina right after graduation. He served in the guards for several years.

Harlow and his high school sweetheart, Nancy Draeger were married on October 3, 1964, in Fort Atkinson. They were also prom king and queen in 1962.

From early on, Harlow was a hard worker. He was employed at the Health Way Dairy, Simonson Oil Co., Waldman Plumbing and Heating, all in Fort Atkinson and Friskies Pet Care in Jefferson before joining the Jefferson County Sheriffs Dept. in July of 1969. He started in the Jail Division, later transferring to a Patrol deputy, and the last eight years serving as a Civil Processor until he retired in 1997. For many years, he enjoyed hosting the annual Sheriffs Dept. steak feed at his home. While working at the Sheriffs Dept., he also worked for the village of Johnson Creek as a part-time officer.
He also worked for Albert Peterson Jr., one of the areas finest builders. Through this, he was involved in many remodeling and new construction projects. No and I cant were not in his vocabulary, he always kept busy.

Harlow was a member of St. Johns Community Church, Town of Oakland. He was a very talented woodworker, and avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed hunting of all kinds, and was looking forward to this months bear hunt. Fishing too, was a big part of Harlows life, his favorite spots included Canada, Lake Erie, and the U.P. He loved fishing and 4-wheeling with the grandkids and recently enjoyed going to the Great Wolf water park with them.

He was also a loyal sports fan, spending countless hours in the bleachers at his sons games, and lately, his grandkids events. He also loved the Packers, Brewers, and Nascar, just recently returning from the race in Bristol Tennessee.

Harlow is survived and will be greatly missed, by his wife, Nancy; three sons, Ryan (Trish) Fort Atkinson; Troy and Curt, both of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Ryder and Kastyn; Nathan; Cole and Drew Hebbe; one brother, Donald (Sherry) Palmyra; three sisters, Sharon Harter (David Tressler), Sun City, AZ; Kathy (Larry) Wagner, Jefferson; Sandy (John) Robel, Milton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, George and Ella Draeger, sister-in-law, Irene Jones and his special dog, Bailey.
