Henry MD Obituary

Henry W. Aufderhaar, MD, 88, of Whitewater, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.

Henry was born on July 22, 1924 in Chicago, son of the late William and Anna (Jensen) Aufderhaar. He married Carol Knutson in Clinton on February 20, 1948.

In 1942, Henry enlisted in the U.S. Military and served as a Navy pilot during WWII. In 1946 he and his twin brother took over the family business in Clinton. Several years later he decided to go back to school and he graduated in 1957 from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and joined Dr. James Russells practice in Fort Atkinson. In 1963 they built a medical office on Memorial Drive and remained there until he joined Dean Care and moved into their new location on Reena Ave. After 52 years of serving the community, he retired in 2011.

Henry is survived by his wife Carol of Whitewater; children, William (Teresa) Aufderhaar, Kurt (Kim) Aufderhaar, John (Christine) Aufderhaar and Joyce (Richard) Christensen; grandchildren, Kara Christensen, Maren (Craig) Trindl, Sarah (Trent) Lange, Anna Aufderhaar, Adam Aufderhaar, Lauren (Jared) Loofboro, Kendra (Jonathan) Hendricks, Hank Aufderhaar, Caroline Aufderhaar and Kaleb Aufderhaar and seven great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother Frederick Fritz Aufderhaar and sister Gretchen Draeger.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 15th at Trinity Lutheran Church, 314 Barrie Street in Fort Atkinson. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will take place from 9:00 am at the church until time of service.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or to the Wisconsin Council of the Blind & Visually Impaired.
