James H. Morois, 69, of Fort Atkinson, a devoted husband, proud father and loving grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
Jim was born on July 1, 1956, in Eau Claire, WI, son of the late Paul “Bill” and Roselia (Bingham) Morois. On December 14, 2001, he married the love of his life, Terri Krebs at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson.
He was a man who lived with honor and humility, and he carried those values into every part of his life. Jim served his country with pride in the Army National Guard, including a tour in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. His service reflected his deep sense of duty and his willingness to stand for something greater than himself.
Jim was a life member of the Fort Atkinson VFW and a longtime member and past commander of the Fort Atkinson American Legion. He valued the fellowship, purpose, and tradition of these organizations, and he took great pride in being part of groups that honored veterans and supported one another. His leadership and dedication were appreciated by many, and his presence will be remembered with gratitude by those who served alongside him.
Jim was employed at Counsell Trucking in Oconomowoc, where he was known for his dependable nature and strong work ethic. Whether at work, in service, or at home, Jim could always be counted on to do his part and to do it well.
Above all else, Jim was a wonderful husband with a big and kind heart. He was deeply proud of his girls, his grandson, and his son-in-law. Family meant everything to him, and he found great joy in the people closest to him. His warmth, encouragement, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Terri Morois; daughters, Tara (T.J.) Avitt and Kati Morois; grandchildren, Brekan Avitt, Chaz Avitt, Justice Avitt, Malachi Morris, Ashley Morris and Preslee Marshall; great grandchildren, Zoey, Ryker, Kashton and Vivian; siblings, Jeff, Mike and Bill Morois and Ann LeFleur and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Jim was also preceded in death by his inlaws, Michael Sr. and LaVern Krebs.
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held from 1 to 5 PM on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the American Legion in Fort Atkinson with Military Honors beginning at 2 PM.
