Janice Lynn Hites, 72, of Monona, WI, died on January 30, 2026, at University Hospital in Madison.
She was born on April 14, 1953, in Fort Atkinson, WI, to Harold and Virginia (Lezotte) Strunk.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and graduated from Fort Atkinson High School. She earned a B.A. in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and could play many musical instruments.
She managed the Arthur Murray dance studio and held various musical positions, directing many choirs in the Madison area, including at Midvale Community Lutheran Church. She also worked at Midwest Financial Group and taught insurance pre-licensing classes.
Janice was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Jerry Strunk, and her sister, Joyce (Smith) Bare. She is survived by her sister, Judy (Tom) Hartel of Augusta; sister-in-law, Arlene Strunk of Fort Atkinson; eight nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Janice enjoyed reading and a variety of music, especially classical and Broadway. She loved cats and was an avid Wisconsin Badger Fan.
A memorial service will be held at Midvale Community Lutheran Church in Madison on Tuesday, February 24, at 12 p.m. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
