Jerome Dean Ehrke of Fort Atkinson, Wis., passed away on January 17, 2025. He was born on February 16, 1938, the son of Fred and Devina Ehrke. He married Carol Roe on May 26, 1961. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, children JoDee Sattler (David), Oconomowoc, Wis.; Steven (Julie), Deerfield, Wis.; and Marcy Jewell (Jeffery), Fort Atkinson, Wis.; grandchildren, Justin (Kristi) Sattler, Shannon (Joseph) Sattler Holtrop, Brandon (Serena) and Blake Ehrke, four great grandchildren, Samara and Zella Sattler, and Zaccai and Kaysen Holtrop; and siblings Irene Schuett, Jean (Richard) Kerr and William “Bill” (Jean) Ehrke, and sister-in-law Bonnie. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gorden (Atlea), Frederick “Bud” (Juanita) and Carroll, and sisters Lucile (Gene) Stokke, Elaine (George) Gruennert and Doreen (Don) Van Schoyck; and brother-in-law Theodore “Ted” Schuett.
Joe graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1956. He farmed for many years, operated Roth Gas Service and drove school bus for the Fort Atkinson school district for 52 years. During his retirement, he enjoyed working part time for Insight FS in Jefferson, delivering products to farmers and discussing the rewards and challenges of farming.
He was his grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader, whether it was for Deerfield High School, Carroll University, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point or the University of Wisconsin Marching Band. Also, Joe was an avid Green Bay Packers and UW Badgers fan. He found great pleasure in hunting, fishing and playing euchre.
Joe belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson, Wis., for nearly 60 years.
A visitation will be held at Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson, Wis., on Jan. 24, from 5-7 p.m., and on Jan. 25, from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will start at 11 a.m. on Jan. 25. A private burial will be held.
