Jessica Powers Obituary

Jessica A. Powers, 49, of Fort Atkinson, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

Jessie was born on July 21, 1976, in Fort Atkinson, and was a 1994 graduate of Fort Atkinson High School.

Jessie earned her interior design degree from MATC, a foundation that helped shape a career defined by talent, vision, and a genuine appreciation for beauty and craftsmanship. She went on to become the owner of JP Design, where she specialized in historical restoration and brought new life to treasured spaces with care and expertise. Jessie was passionate about her work and took great pride in every project she touched. Some of her favorite or more notable projects included; the WI State Capitol, Reading Room, Paine Mansion, Pottawatomie Lighthouse (Rock Island Light) and the most recent Olbrich Botanical Gardens.  Her professional life reflected not only her skill and intelligence, but also her respect for history and her ability to see the potential in every detail.

Beyond her career, Jessie was known for her heart of gold and her compassion for others. She loved animals and carried a gentle spirit that extended to everyone around her. She was the kind of person who would help anyone in need, and her generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Jessie was very caring, thoughtful, and dependable, and she made others feel valued through her kindness and sincerity. Her presence brought comfort and warmth, and she had a way of making people feel welcome and understood.

Jessie was also a proud aunt who cherished her family and the special role she played in the lives of those she loved. She was a great friend to many and was treasured for her great sense of humor and her contagious laugh. Jessie had a smart and lively mind, and her wit and warmth made her a joy to be around. She brought lightness to difficult moments and happiness to ordinary days, and her laughter will be remembered as one of the many gifts she shared so freely.

Jessie is survived by her mom and step-dad, Becky and Dusty Hembrook; fiancé, Jim Schwab; sister, Angie (Randy) Hustad; step-brothers, Dustin (Angie) Hembrook and Brandon (Lisa) Hembrook, step-sister, Haley Hembrook; nephew, Stephen Hustad; nieces, Tabitha, Naomi and Esther Hustad, Ella Hembrook, and Lily Linder; her turtle, Walter; cats, Ruby and Richie and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jessie was preceded in death by her father, Steven Powers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9 at the Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, June 8 at the memorial home as well as from 9:30 AM on Tuesday until the time of service. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Fort Atkinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Humane Society of Jefferson County or to the animal charity of your choice.
