John W. Rhodes, 59, of Fort Atkinson, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center following a battle with cancer.
John was born on July 9, 1951, son of the late John and Jeanette (Berner) Rhodes in Camden, NJ. John grew up in Fort Atkinson attending local schools, graduating from Fort Atkinson High School in 1969. John joined the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
During his professional life, John was employed as a truck driver and traffic manager by Moores Seafood, Dominos, BFB, GMR Marketing and Schneider Transportation. John was awarded the Million Mile Safe Driving Award while driving for Moores Seafood.
John is survived by his son Andrew (Holly) Rhodes of Richmond, VA, and their children, Cameron and Audrey and his daughter Katie Rhodes of Williamsburg, VA. John is further survived by cousins, Gene (Pat) Raddatz, Shirley (Don) Morgan, Clyde (Linda) Werner, Howard Werner, Nancy Riggs and Lavern (Mike) Krebs. John was comforted and cared for by his cousins Lavern Krebs, Donna Lidicker and Terri Morois during his illness. A special thank you to Shirley Kutz for her Kindness.
In accordance with Johns wishes there will be no formal services. A celebration of Johns life will be held at the Filling Station Bar & Grill, 130 N. Main Street, in Fort Atkinson on Saturday, May 28, 2011 from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
