Judith J. Hack “affectionately known as Bubbles”, 88, of Whitewater, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
Judy was born on January 7, 1938, in Madison, daughter of the late James and Vaneta (Pogue) Wood.
Judy was very active and sociable, whose warmth, energy, and love for others touched everyone who knew her.
In her last 21+ years with her husband Dave, she enjoyed traveling together, creating memories that remained dear to her heart. She also loved spending time watching Brewer games together.
Judith had many interests that brought her happiness and gave her life a wonderful sense of purpose. She enjoyed biking and appreciated the freedom and enjoyment it brought her. She also loved to knit, a pastime that reflected her patience, creativity, and care. She knit many different items, donating them to those in need.
She also held a deep affection for the Fairhaven community. Judith valued the connections she made there and appreciated being part of a place that meant so much to her.
Above all else, family was the center of Judith’s life. She treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren, that she used to watch whenever she could when they were young, those moments brought her great joy.
Judy is survived by her husband, Dave Hack; children, Lisa (Doug) Smithback, Jim (Nicole) Roethel and Todd (Amy) Roethel; grandchildren, Eric Smithback, Katie (Kevin) Keehan and Libby Roethel; great grandchildren, Eden, Ben and Ty Smithback and Kellen Keehan and her sister, Nancy Wendorf. Judy is also survived by Dave’s children, Mary, Christine, Sam, Carol, Patrick, George and Phillip and their children and grandchildren.
Judy was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanene Roethel-King; sister, Marcie Roahen; brother-in-law, Larry Wendorf and Dave’s son, Timothy Hack.
A Mass will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 29, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Whitewater. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of the service.
Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
