Lyle G. Northey, 85, has gone to rest on Monday, December 12, 2011.
The son of Frank and Hazel Northey, Lyle was born on April 5, 1926 in Sullivan, WI. He graduated high school in Jefferson. Lyle enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served his country in WWII. He married Jane E. Garity on September 8, 1948, and shortly afterward they moved to Fort Atkinson, WI to raise their family.
Lyle designed and built a beautiful home for his family with lumber milled from trees on the family farm. A carpenter by trade, and a natural master craftsman, he worked with various local builders constructing many of the homes in Fort Atkinson and the surrounding area.
Lyle loved the outdoors and nature, and shared his passion traveling throughout the state, camping, hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed 50+ years with his dear friend and hunting buddy Neal (Ann) Smith.
Lyle was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church and volunteered his time as an usher and builder for many church events.
Lyle is survived by his brother Don (Lois), sister Doris (Art) Sprague, daughter Margaret (Frank) Bowman, son Michael (Sandy), daughter Judy (JD) Dragus, and son-in-law Randy (Sharon) Baier. He is the loving grandfather of Lana, Nicole, Betsie, Robert, Alison, Emily, Gwen, Eli, Marena, Noah, Seth and Naia Jane.
Lyle was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jane, daughter Sherrie, and daughter-in-law Kay. Also preceding him were his parents, his wifes parents, 2 sisters, 4 brothers-in-law and 2 nephews. Lyles skills, warmth, and wit touched many lives and he will be deeply missed by all.
Special thanks to the staff at Wellington Place for the love and care they provided Lyle for many years.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson.
