Lynne Haasch Obituary

Lynne Louise Tylenda was born on June 26th, 1954, to Leonard and Audrey Tylenda in Wauwatosa. She attended high school at Wauwatosa West. She studied at UW-Madison for two years and then switched over to Mount Mary College. During her time at Mount Mary, she worked at Marshall Fields where she met Greg Haasch. They were married on Sept 18th, 1976 and were blessed with four children. Greg and Lynne made their home in Lake Mills, WI, later moving to Cambridge and finally Fort Atkinson. While living in Lake Mills, Lynne worked at Old Mills Market and later opened her own boutique store called Lake Street Emporium with a dear friend.

Lynne made the world better, brighter, and more beautiful. She walked into places with arms full of plants, knickknacks, and random objects and left them blooming and welcoming. Lynne was fiercely loving and approached the world with curiosity, joy, and hope. It was exhilarating and exhausting to get caught up in her projects, which usually involved several trips to the hardware or garden store but always ended up creating a space that showed her love for the people in it. While she definitely had opinions, she was willing to listen with an open mind and build on common ground. Unless she was talking plants or furniture arrangements; then it was best to agree and move the thing. She could throw just about anything into dirt and it would grow.
Lynne’s love for Greg and the family they created together is the foundation of the lives she leaves behind. Their home was always open and bustling with friends, pets, and the joy of caring for others. Many nights were spent playing games with a rotating group of friends.

She was generous and quick to laugh. Lynne was never more than a phone call or a coffee date away and her playfulness and creativity buoyed up every rainy day or mood she encountered. Her grandchildren will remember Nana - or “Zoomie” - as a coffee-fueled force of nature and fun. No one could create a cheese plate or a shade garden or a sporadic farmers’ market trip like she could. She was an active part of her children’s schools (St. Paul’s and Lakeside, Lake Mills), her churches, and numerous community volunteer organizations. She served her many churches happily, with Bethany Lutheran Church being her last place of service. She entered heavenly rest on June 21st after a short but courageous bout with cancer.
Lynne Haasch, age 71, was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Audrey, and her in-laws, Eugene and Helen Haasch. Lynne is survived by her husband of 49 years, Greg of Fort Atkinson, daughter Becky of Potton, UK, son Andrew (Julia) of Grapevine, TX, son Nick (Leah) of Green Lake, WI, and daughter Libby (Sean) of Fort Atkinson. Her grandchildren are Jonah, Amelia, Peter, Alexandra, Nathan, Luisa, Isabella, Lydia, and Emmalynn. All of them are eager to follow the trail of reading glasses and knitting needles to find her in heaven one day.

Visitation and the funeral will take place on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Fort Atkinson. The visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 AM. The funeral will begin at 11 AM with Pastors Robert Read and Ethan Steinbrenner officiating with a lunch to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials can be made out to the Cambridge Food Pantry or to the Cancer Society.
