Marianna Dexter, 85, of Whitewater, formerly of Fort Atkinson, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Fairhaven Retirement Community.
Marianna was born on January 27, 1925 in Fort Atkinson, daughter of the late Roy and Hazel (Sund) Hollabush. She married Douglas Dexter on June 21, 1958 in Fort Atkinson.
Marianna was a member of Fort Atkinson Eli Pierce Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), life member of the Fort Historical Society and a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Fort Atkinson. She also belonged to a bridge card club, she would admit she wasnt a very good player, but appreciated any chance to get together with her close friends.
Shortly after graduating from Fort Atkinson High School in 1943, she worked for First National Bank until 1958 then was employed at Fort Savings and Loan until she retired. She had a great love for nature. While living in the country, she would feed everything that was alive, especially the chipmunks. Marianna loved everything chocolate and relished having a McDonalds cheeseburger and fries.
She is survived by her husband Douglas of Whitewater and her adopted family, Dwight and Bobbie Tomczak of Jefferson. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Jeanne Siever and Evelyn Hollabush.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson with Rev. Kendall Nordstrom officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the memorial home until time of service. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
