On Tuesday, January 15, 2013, Ft. Atkinson resident Mary Jane Elias went home to her Lord. Born on May 17, 1926 in Milwaukee, Mary Jane was the daughter of the late Milton Meyer and Helen (Scheer) Meyer. She was a 1943 graduate of Milwaukee Girls' Trade and Technical School.
For two decades, while raising her family, Mary Jane was employed as the secretary for the Disabled American Veterans service organization in Milwaukee. Following retirement, she traveled to Hawaii and also to Israel, fulfilling her long-held dream.
Family was the focus of her life, as she taught her children the importance of hospitality, sharing, helping, generosity and being active in the community. We could always feel her unconditional love for us through her voice.
Music was a staple in her life as she had the voice of an angel. With a deep love for her church, Mary Jane graciously gave of her time and talents through the years. She was a creatively gifted person, who sewed and knitted beautiful personal items for the people she loved. Mary Jane used her talents to make other people happy. She was also an avid Brewer and Packer fan.
Mary Jane is survived by her 5 children: Jeanne Ann Elias, Susan Elias (Bob Glebs), Richard (Sue) Elias, Robert Elias, and Robin (Dave) Booth, and also 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, brother Jerre Meyer, and nephew Michael Meyer. She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Meyer, grandson Mark Anello, and husband Robert Elias.
A service honoring and celebrating Mary Jane's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 1615 Wauwatosa Ave., Wauwatosa, WI. Family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the church until the service begins. Mary Jane will then be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.
