Mary T. Olson, 68, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Rainbow Hospice, after a long battle with Myotonic Dystrophy. She was surrounded by the love of her family.
Mary was born on November 9, 1957, to James and Patricia Kiesler of Jefferson, WI. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1975 and built a life centered on hard work, compassion, and devotion to her family.
Throughout her life, Mary wore many hats and touched countless lives through her work. She held positions at Johnson Hill Press, served as co-owner of Stepping Stair Child Care Center, worked as a van driver for LaVigne Bus Co., and found great joy in her years as an optician at Shopko Optical — a career she truly loved because it allowed her to help and connect with others every day. In her later years, she worked in secretarial services for Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial. No matter the role, Mary was known for her kindness, reliability, and warm spirit.
On July 12, 1980, Mary married the love of her life, Rick Olson. Together they built a beautiful family and shared 50 years of love, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Above all else, Mary cherished being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest happiness came from time spent with her children and grandchildren, whether celebrating milestones, sharing holidays, or attending their events.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, James and Patricia Kiesler; her brothers, Kevin and James; and her sister, Kathleen (Bob) Roser of Milton.
She is lovingly survived by her husband, Rick Olson; her daughter, Richelle (Dan Rottmann); her son, Ryan Olson; and her beloved grandchildren, Lexi, Lily, Jayden, and Jamison, all of whom brought endless joy and pride to her life.
Mary will be remembered for her caring heart, gentle nature, sense of humor, and the unconditional love she gave so freely to those around her. Her family and friends will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
No services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation, 663 Thirteenth Street, Suite 100, Oakland, CA 94612.
