Nancy Witt Obituary

Nancy A. Witt, 85, of Fort Atkinson, passed away Monday, April 14, 2025, at Fort Memorial Hospital. 

Nancy was born on June 7, 1939, in Watertown, WI, daughter of the late Herbert and Alice (Dauffenbach) Krebs.  She married Dean Witt of Clintonville on September 14, 1963.

Nancy graduated from Prospect Hall secretarial school in 1959.  She worked as a secretary at Cleave-Brooks in Milwaukee until 1962, then Creamery Package in Fort Atkinson until 1965 when she took time off to raise two children.  Resuming work in 1973, she held part time jobs at Uncle Josh (Atlas) Bait, Lemke Fence, and ended her career in the box office at the Fireside Dinner Theater in 2017. 

Nancy enjoyed camping with family, Bridge Club, puzzles, and socializing with her sisters of the Delta Eta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.  She taught Sunday school and Bible school and was a member of the church choir.  Nancy was a social person and a pleasure to be around.  She was known for always treating people with kindness. 

Nancy is survived by children, Julie Witt of Mooresville, NC and Jeff (Patti) Witt of Le Claire, IA; and grandson, Joshua Witt of Rochester Hills MI.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean and her parents.

Memorial services will be held at 11am on Thursday, May 1, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 31 W. Milwaukee Ave. in Fort Atkinson.  Friends may call on Thursday at the church from 10 am until the time of services. 

A private burial will be held in Lakeview Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Jefferson County or the First Congregational Church.
