She was born in Madison on Feb. 17, 1930, to Margaret and Thomas Coughlin. She graduated from Madison West High School in 1947 and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1953.

Patsy and her seven sisters grew up in the "bush" on Monona Bay.

Patricia married the love of her life, Jeremiah Landowski, on Nov. 27, 1952, at St. James Catholic Church in Madison. They had nine children, Thomas (deceased Oct. 10, 1953), Linda (Jeff) Hevey of Wauwatosa, Laura (Thomas) Matenaer of Woodbury, Minn., Lisa (Paul) Kotz of Fort Atkinson, Joseph (Mary Jessup) Landowski of Lake Mills, Margaret (Bill) Bare of Fort Atkinson, Anthony (Jodi) Landowski of Fort Atkinson, Amy (Bob) Weh of Fort Atkinson and John (Jenni Eschner) Landowski of Fort Atkinson. Jerry and Patricia raised their eight children in Fort Atkinson.

Patricia was known as "Patsy" to her childhood friends and sisters, "Trish" to her beloved Jeremiah, "Mom" to her children, "Pat" to her friends and "Grandma" to 24 grandchildren, Nicholas, Maggie, Betsy and Emily Hevey, Carissa, Lindsay, Jacob Matenaer, Annie, John, Marta Kotz, Chad, Kate, Mikey Landowski, Kaitlin, Hannah, Abigail, Madeline, Emma, Molly Bare, Elizabeth, Sam Landowski, Charlie, Sarah Weh and Collin Landowski. Patricia had three great-grandchildren, Mary Karol and Michael (Maggie and Sean) Pelkey and Maura Elizabeth (Betsy and James) Schade.

She spent her life giving her talents and treasures and Irish wit back to her community, her church, her children, her family and her friends.

Patricia's love of the arts, people and her faith were displayed in many ways including: the Coughlin's Custom Clothing shop on Park Street in Madison that she owned with her mother, Maggie, teaching home economics at St. Joe's, teaching quilting and tailoring at Madison Area Technical College and the Fort Atkinson Area Senior Citizens Center, heading up the Mary Hoard Art Show for several years, being a costumer for numerous high school musicals and community theater events, decorating St. Joseph's Catholic Church and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, being an active member of CCW and St. Anne's Circle, contributing to historical preservation projects including our local water tower and her own home, numerous extended family gatherings, yearly festive St. Patrick's Day parties, and creating her children's and grandchildren's weddings.

She is survived by two of her sisters: her twin, Nancy Johnson of Wisconsin Dells and Virginia Earl of Riverside, Ill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents, Maggie and Thomas; her son, Thomas; and her sisters, Gene Marty, Norma Hastings, Betty Oakey, Phyllis Steele and Caryl Oscar.

A celebration of Patricia's life will begin, as her wish, with an Irish wake, at her home on Friday, Aug. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 7:30. A visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon at St. John the Baptist Church in Jefferson.

The Reverends Thomas Coyle and John Urban will concelebrate a memorial mass at noon. A private family burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison on Sunday.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and School.

The Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
