Paul E. Christensen, 91, an area farmer for many years, died peacefully in his sleep early Friday morning, July 6, 2012, at Black Hawk Senior Residence.
He was born on March, 29, 1921, on the family farm in Franksville, to Christ and Christina Christensen.
Predeceased by Audrey, his wife of 54 years, he outlived his family of 10 brothers and sisters, and their spouses.
Paul is survived by his wife, Berdine Fiebiger of Fort Atkinson; children, Linda (Jim) Brandt of Janesville, Sandra (Michael) Whitson of Rockford, Ill., Jim (Lori) Christensen and Dale (Susan) Christensen, both of Jefferson; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He met Audrey Henningfeld and they were married Nov. 24, 1945. They lived on his family's farm in Racine County until they moved to their family farm in Jefferson County. Paul loved to work and he was very proud of his showplace farm.
After a hard-working life as a dairy farmer, past member and president of the National Farmers Organization, and a true believer in organic farming, Paul truly wore out his body. He continued working on the family farm until well into his 80s.
Paul married Berdine Fiebiger on Aug. 27, 2003, and they had almost nine years of marriage in Fort Atkinson.
The family would like to thank Black Hawk Senior Residence, and their wonderful and caring staff; Rainbow Hospice, and family and friends who took time to visit Paul in the last four months.
Throughout his lifetime, Paul had a love of horses; therefore, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Spirit Horse Equine Rescue, 4107 N. Rivers Edge Drive, Janesville, WI 53548.
A memorial service to celebrate Paul's life will be held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Rome on Saturday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m.
