Ralph S. Schroeder, 89, of Fort Atkinson, passed away Friday, November 5, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Janesville.
Ralph was born on June 27, 1921 in Menomonee Falls, son of the late Rudolph and Ella (Strube) Schroeder. He married Janet Smithback of Cambridge on November 8, 1947. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2003.
Ralph joined the Army and served as a tank mechanic in WWII. He was a truck and antique car enthusiast. He, along with his father owned a trucking company, Rudy Schroeder & Son, Inc. He was a member of the American Truck Historical Society and received its founders award. He was also a founding member of REO Antique Car Club of America.
Ralph is survived by his children, Kay (Bill) Loftus, of Plainfield, IL, Ralph (Nancy) Schroeder of De Pere and Randy (Jeanette) Schroeder of Fort Atkinson; seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the Dunlap Memorial Home with Pastor Terese Leonhard officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the memorial home.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
