Raymond V. Queiser took his final journey on January 5 with his wife, Ruth M. Vergenz, by his side.
Raymond, born in 1926, was the fourth child of Anton and Rose Marie (Irmischer) Queiser of Milwaukee. He would have celebrated his 87thbirthday on January 19, 2013.
Ray graduated from Johnson Creek High School in 1943, the first of the Queiser children to complete high school. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces in 1944, was trained as an aviation cadet and stationed in Fort Myers, Fla.
Ray married Muriel M. (Ebert) in September 1947 in St. Marks Lutheran Church of Watertown. For much of their 51 years of marriage they resided on Milwaukee Avenue in Fort Atkinson. Muriel preceded Raymond in death on May 10, 1999.
Ray spent 37 years working for Crepaco Co. traveling around the world installing refrigeration equipment. One of his favorite countries to visit was South Africa. Raymond retired in 1990 and spent his retirement years creating stained glass lamps and tinkering with clocks.
In August 2001, after a short courtship, Ray and Ruth Vergenz were married. Ray and Ruth spent the best part of their 11 years together traveling around the state on various senior trips. Plus they took two especially memorable trips: to Hawaii and Germany. The memories of those trips helped them through the past year while Ray has been residing at Alden Estates of Jefferson.
Ray is survived by his wife, Ruth; two stepchildren: Timothy (Cynthia) of Fort Atkinson and Mary (Dean) of River Falls; a step daughter-in-law, Brenda Vergenz of Fort Atkinson; 6 step-grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Lawrence (Joretta) Queiser of Watertown; 14 nieces and nephews and a special niece, Sue Ebert of Fort Atkinson.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; his three sisters: Marguerite Bingen, Virginia Hafenstein, and Lucille Shupp; an infant brother, Russell; a niece and nephew: Ellen Masche and Jeffrey Queiser; and a stepson, Thomas Vergenz.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 9 at 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 404 Roosevelt St., Fort Atkinson. Visitation will precede the service from 9-11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow at noon.
Dunlap Memorial Home of Fort Atkinson is helping the family with the funeral preparations.
The family would also like to thank Alden Estates of Jefferson, Rainbow Hospice and Bethany Lutheran Church.
