Robert William Bare, 74, of Waunakee, WI (formerly Fort Atkinson, WI) passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2026. A visitation and service will take place at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Middleton, WI on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
Rob was born in Fort Atkinson, WI on January 21, 1952. A chess club standout and proud graduate of Fort Atkinson High School, Rob found his way to trade school – and eventually to a 50+ year career in the plumbing industry. A member of Plumbers Local 75 union, his dedication to his craft was felt across major projects and house calls alike. Always willing to lend a hand, there was never a job he wouldn’t tackle.
A lover of all things nature, Rob especially appreciated birds. Never to be used as a coaster, his Birds of North America book was always nearby in case of a new find. Rob was also an avid coin collector, puzzler, and angler. Rob walked daily with his buddy Brewster, partners in crime as they searched for birds throughout the neighborhood. He enjoyed watching Wisconsin sports, especially attending Badger football games with family and friends. His children were his pride and joy and grandkids his shining stars, but it was truly his love of helping others that made him whole.
Rob is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Donna Bare (Klietz), children Abby Bare (Heath Whitcher) and Kacie (Bare) Krueger (Austin Krueger), and his grandchildren Brenna, Hudson, and Callen.
Rob will be remembered for his kindness to others and to the planet, his passion for plumbing, and love for his family. His humor and wisdom were gifts to everyone who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you spread Rob’s kindness. Any donations can be made to the National Audubon Society or the St. Andrew Place of Peace.
Friends and family are invited to St. Andrew Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 9, 2026. The visitation will begin at 2:30pm with a service to follow at 4:00pm.
