Robert Lodl Obituary

Robert E. Lodl, 71, of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012 after a valiant battle with cancer.

Bob was born on December 27, 1940 to Edward "Polo" and Eleanor (Oswald) Lodl in Two Rivers, WI. He attended grade school and high school in Two Rivers and after graduation; served in the United States Navy for 4 years between the years of Sept. 1958- Dec. 1962.

Bob managed finance companies for a few years, operated Bob's TV Service for 20 years and served on the Fort Atkinson Fire Department for 20 years. Bob was also a pilot and flew small engine aircraft. After his flying days were over; he still loved to fly via the computer of which he was a whiz and helped numerous people with their PC issues. (PC was a nickname given to Bob by his wife because of his knowledge of computers; but also initials for her "Prince Charming") He was also employed as a rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Fort Atkinson and retired after 18 years of service.

In 1999 he married the true love of his life, Geri (Langholff) Strike on St. Patrick's Day. Together, they enjoyed bowling, golfing and making annual trips with friends to the Wa-Zha-Wa festive in the Dells. Bob also supported the Fort Atkinson Generals throughout the years and he will be missed at his corner of the concession stand.

Bob is survived by his wife, Geri, one son, Anthony, (Jen) Lodl of Fort Atkinson and grandsons, Michael and Cody Lodl. Two sisters, Ann Marie Lodl of Two Rivers and Barbara Lodl of Wisconsin Rapids; a step-son, Clayton (Kasey) Strike of Jefferson and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be no formal visitation or funeral. A gathering of friends will be held at Bienfang's Bar on Thursday, September 20 from 5:30 7 PM.

A private burial will take place at a later date including a military ceremony.

A special thank you to Rainbow Hospice, the Respite Care Unit and to Father David for all their physical, mental and spiritual care.

In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson or to the Fort Atkinson Fire Dept.
