Robert G. Weiler, Sr., 69, of Fort Atkinson passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2012, at his home.
He was born on May 28, 1942 in Elkhorn, WI. to A.J. Tony and Amelia Weiler.
He married Kathleen Kay Krebs on June 22, 1963 in Jefferson.
Early on, Bob worked in his fathers small machine shop in Palmyra. He also worked for several other manufacturing companies before working permanently at Weiler and Company in Whitewater in 1971. Bob watched his fathers business grow into an international food processing equipment manufacturing company, from which he retired in 2009.
Bob loved tinkering with anything mechanical and especially enjoyed building miniature replicas of working gas engines. Mostly machined by hand, they are truly works of art. He also kept busy in his garden, tending the trees in his orchard, raising a flock of chickens, researching his family genealogy, making wine, hosting an annual summer BBQ, restoring a 1930 Ford Model A, and riding his Harley. He was able to travel throughout the United States and Canada on his motorcycle, which included a trip to Alaska. But above all else, Bob most cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Bob is survived by his four children, Irene (Shane) Fohr, Robert Jr., Chris (Steve) Heinz, and Beth (Christopher) Trieloff; six grandchildren, John, Matthew, Nicole, Kaitlyn, Porter and Greyson; and sisters, Janet (Nick) Lesar, Mary Levall, and Rita (Michael) Stapleton, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kathy and a brother-in-law, Tom Levall.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 17, 2012, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson, followed by the funeral service.
Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Whitewater, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Rainbow Hospice or the Fort Atkinson Food Pantry on behalf of the family would be appreciated.
