Romaine Gene Smith Sr., 76, Fort Atkinson, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at home.

He was born on April 18, 1937 in Freeport, Illinois.

Gene married Patricia DeForest on May 8, 1982 in Fort Atkinson.
He owned and operated the Ace Chimney Cleaning and Masonry Co. for over 20 years before retiring in the 1990s.

Gene enjoyed playing the guitar, a good game of euchre, telling jokes, watching NASCAR racing and the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include his wife, Pat; 6 children; 2 step-daughters; many grand and great grandchildren.

Following his wishes, private family graveside services will be held.
