Susan Arentsen Obituary

Susan Arentsen, 68, of Fort Atkinson, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 at her home.

Susan was born on September 2, 1944 in Chicago, daughter of the late Harvey and Martha (Kubik) Arentsen of Fort Atkinson. She graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1962 and from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1991.

While a student at the university, Susan coordinated volunteers and support services to students with disabilities through the office of Disabled Student Services. Upon her graduation in 1991, Susan taught Special Education at the Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, WI.

She worked with people with disabilities at Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown, St. Colleta in Jefferson and Hearthside Rehab Center in Brown Deer. Susan also worked at University of Wisconsin Hospital as a unit coordinator and nursing management assistant.

In her early years, Susan flew with American Airlines as a stewardess and loved traveling. She lived in such places as Chicago, San Francisco, San Antonio, Japan, Hawaii, Milwaukee and Madison.

Susan married Craig V. Showalter in 1968 who lives in Northfield, IL and Mark Mittag in 1977 who is now deceased.

Susan is survived by her children, Brittany (Dean) Schubert of Arcata, CA and Craig S. Showalter of Fort Atkinson; granddaughter, Maya Schubert; sisters, Joann (Richard) Lescohier of Fort Atkinson and Diana (Claude) Tipton of Elkhart, IN, and many other relatives.

Following Susans wishes, no service will be held.
