Thomas Vergenz Obituary

Thomas S. Vergenz (Grandpa Tom), 60, of Fort Atkinson, passed away from cancer Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at his home.
Tom was born on February 26, 1951 in Fort Atkinson to Clarence and Ruth (Riemer) Vergenz. He married Brenda Pieper on April 30, 1977 at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Watertown.
Tom attended St. Pauls Lutheran School and graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1970. After high school, Tom joined the National Guard and served from 1970 to 1976. Tom had worked for 29 years at Nestle Purina Petcare in Jefferson.
Tom is survived by his wife of 34 years Brenda; sons, Kristoffer (Rachel) of Milton, Nikolaus of Milton and James (Megan) of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, Jacob Thomas, Nathaniel and Andrew Vergenz of Milton and Jacob Timothy and Maxx Vergenz of Fort Atkinson; mother, Ruth Vergenz (husband Ray Queiser); brother, Timothy (Cindy) Vergenz of Fort Atkinson; sister, Mary (Dean) Van Galen of River Falls; father-in-law, Melvin Pieper of Watertown; brother-in-law, Kerry (Kathy) Pieper of Watertown and six nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his father Clarence; an infant sister and his mother-in-law Margaret Pieper.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2011 at St. Pauls Ev. Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson with Pastors Michael Duncan and Paul Scharrer co-officiating. Friends may call from 12 noon on Friday at the church until time of service. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Pauls Lutheran Church or to Rainbow Hospice.
