Valerie R. Kerschensteiner

Valerie R. Kerschensteiner, 87, of Fort Atkinson, died on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at home.

Valerie was born on Dec. 12, 1922, in Fort Atkinson, the daughter of the late Leslie and Cathryn (Valerius) Roessler. Valerie married Mark H. Kerschensteiner on Nov. 27, 1943, in Fort Atkinson. He died on July 15, 2010.

She was a graduate of the Fort Atkinson High School, class of 1949, and later attended Beloit College. Valerie was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. She also was a member of the Tuesday Club and Bridge Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Kristin Kerschensteiner of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, Catherine (Matt) Cherwin of Madison, Andrew Martin of Waukesha, Christopher Martin of Fort Atkinson, Jill Kerschensteiner of New York, N.Y.; and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fort Atkinson with the Rev. Dr. Chris Buckingham-Taylor officiating. Family burial will take place at a later time at the Evergreen Cemetery.

If desired, memorials may be made to the Fort Atkinson Community Foundation, Hoard Historical Museum or the Humane Society of Jefferson County.
