Walter R. Buckingham, Sr.

Walter R. Buckingham, Sr. 92, of whitewater, formerly of Fort Atkinson, passed away Sunday, February 03, 2013 at Fairhaven in Whitewater.

Walter was born on October 21, 1920 in Fort Atkinson, son of the late William and Agusta (Schilling) Buckingham. He married Lucille Hartwig on February 14, 1940. She preceded him in death on February 19, 1998.

Walter worked on the farm for most of his life, he owned and operated the Twinkling Star Tavern for seven years and later retired from the Larson Canning Company after 15 years.

Walter is survived by his children, Walter Jr. (Cheryll) Buckingham, Sandy (Wayne) Dallman and Richard Buckingham all of Fort Atkinson; 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Earl, Clarence and Laverne; two sons, Kenneth and Roger and an infant son at birth, James.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, at the Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. on Thursday at the memorial home until time of service. Burial will take place in Cold Spring Cemetery.
