Wesley L. Wegner, 75, left this world for everlasting life on Saturday, December 24, 2011. He passed away at UW Hospital. Wes was born on August 10, 1936, son of the late Harold and Ella Wegner in Fort Atkinson. He married Elsie L. Nicholas on June 2, 1956.
Wes was a lifelong resident of Fort Atkinson and member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He retired from General Motors on March 1, 1993. Following retirement, he so enjoyed spending time with family, especially time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren; it was common place to find Pa on the floor playing army with his only grandson or having his hair styled by his granddaughters and great granddaughter or playing with cars and trucks with his great grandson.
He will be deeply missed by his family who loved him dearly: wife, Elsie; children David L. (Mary) Wegner, Jeff (Teri) Wegner, Terry (Chad) Hein, all from Fort Atkinson, and Jim (Rose) Wegner, of Jefferson. He is further survived by his loving grandchildren, Tracy, Keia, Tera, Kristen, Kali, Nissa, Gretchen, Cassidy, Carlee, Cade; his great grandchildren Jaelynn and Ripley; and his sister Justine (Gilbert) Kutz. Wes was preceded in death by Harold and Ella, his parents and his brother Neil.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastors Brian Engfer and Bill Beyer officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. on Thursday at the church until time of service. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
A very loving and caring man, no words will ever convey how much and by how many he will be missed. He is forever in the hearts of his family and friends. Wes was devoted to his loving wife, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved us ever so deeply, asking for nothing in return.
A heartfelt thank you to the Fort Atkinson Police Officers and EMTs, the physicians and nurses of Fort Healthcare and the UW Hospital who worked tirelessly to save his life, and care for him to the end. A special thanks to the nurses of UW Hospital whose loving care and compassion were truly felt by Wes and his family.
