William James Pilgrim passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Fort Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side.
He was born in Madison on April 13, 1937 son of the late Elmer and Marcella (Koch) Pilgrim.
William grew up in Johnson Creek, where he lived with his grandparents Donald and Christine Carey and attended Johnson Creek High School. William married June Rosebell Holmes on February 25, 1956 in Jefferson.
William is survived by his two daughters, Sheree Pilgrim (Curt Osenga) of Fort Atkinson and Donna (Christopher) Marsden of Busseyville; three grandchildren, Nicky (Travis) Paulsen, Cory Marsden and Michael Osenga; four great grandchildren, Mercedes Pilgrim, Skylar Pastorious, Paige Paulsen and Alan Marsden; brother, Kenneth Parr of Middleton; two sisters, Nancy Mooreland of Waunakee and Kathleen (David) Warner of Cross Plains; many brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife June; great grandchild, Kassandra Marsden; many brother and sister in laws; a nephew and a great niece.
William worked at Bammels Furniture and then started his own business, Pilgrims Carpet Service in the 1960s. He drove truck for Jamesway for many years and he retired as a dispatcher for Ranger Transportation.
William was a sport enthusiast, loving the Green Bay Packers and the Badgers. He also enjoyed country music and hunting and had been a longtime member of the NRA. William had many special friends and was a devoted family man.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1660 Endl Blvd. Fort Atkinson. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 30 at the Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson and from 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the church until time of service. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
