David Koch Obituary

David Koch of Whitewater, WI passed away peacefully on January 18, 2020 at Agrace Hospice in Janesville at the age of 72.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Whitewater. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church until time of service.

David was born on August 31, 1947 in Madison, WI, the son of Robert Koch and Dorothy (Klein) Koch. He met the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Barbara (Stowell) and married her on June 25, 1966. Following a tour in Vietnam, where he fought for his country as a helicopter crew chief in the 189th Aviation Battallion Ghost Riders; he came home to his daughter, Marci. This beloved father with a great sense of humor continued to grow his family with his wife until there were six “perfect” children - Marcelle (Scott) Trimborn, Brenda (Steven) Vicen, Brian (Kristine) Koch, Renee (Glen) Grieger, Sheri (Curtis) Brown, and Chad (Hann) Koch. He will be dearly missed by his 12 grandchildren whom he loved very much - Chet (Kristina) Trimborn, Kayla Trimborn, twins Dayna and Sarah Trimborn, Nathan Vicen, Emma Vicen, Kathryn Vicen, Roman Koch, Kenneth Grieger, Jenna Grieger, Grace Brown, and Sarena Brown. David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth. He is survived by 2 brothers, Fred (Shirley) of Columbus and Don (Deb) of Nevada and 2 sisters, Carol Dittberner of Waukegan, IL, and Judy (Jerry) Schmudlach of Monona.

David retired from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2010 after working as a craftsman painter for 30 years. He especially enjoyed working with the college students in the summer. When not working, David enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, bowling, fishing, and euchre. A connoisseur of duct tape, avid Packer Backer, accomplished bad joke teller, his favorite holiday was Leif Erickson. Day. He was a certified professional baby walker and taught all of his grandchildren to be avid SpongeBob fans. A man of faith, love, humor, and humility- he will be dearly missed by all who had the honor to know him.

The Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
